Provide us with a brief description of your job: Outpatient dietitian at NorthPoint Health and Wellness: provide nutrition assessments to variety of disease states; teaching group classes.
What do you love about what you do? I love the diverse community I work with. They are willing to learn and make positive changes and it’s an honor to be a part of their care.
What are the challenges? Language barrier/ continuing to educate yourself on different foods from different cultures is also difficult sometimes. Also, continuing to figure out other public organizations that can provide assistants to our patients to decrease food insecurity.
How has your MAND membership benefited you? Meeting so amazing individuals on the MAND board. Also connecting with other fellow dietetic professionals around the community.
What do you think is the future of nutrition and dietetics? As we continue to show our worth as a key part of the healthcare team, I think dietitians will start being reimbursed for ALL the work we do. We will continue to show how valuable we are. Very exciting for what the future holds.
What are your favorite activities/hobbies? Hanging with friends and family, and dog (Jet), football, golf, fishing, trying alcoholic beverages.
What is your favorite restaurant in Minnesota? The Block (come through and visit me on Thursday nights!); Sonjusan
