Advanced Therapies for Pediatric Obesity is one of the most highly regarded educational activities addressing the topic of pediatric obesity. In this three ½-day course, leading experts in the field will provide the rationale for why obesity is a disease and concrete guidance on how to manage it.  A main focus of this course is the use of obesity medications for children and adolescents. Using cased-based sessions and break outs, attendees will learn how to use obesity medications.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the pathophysiology and obesity and the weight-reduced state.
  2. Explain how to conduct a comprehensive assessment of a child with obesity, including identification of weight-related comorbidities.
  3. Define strategies for the management of pediatric obesity, including lifestyle therapy, obesity medications, and the role of metabolic and bariatric surgery.
