Ashley Krogfus
MAND-Twin Cities Networking Lead
Provide us with a brief description of your job: I work as an outpatient clinical dietitian, specializing in diabetes education. I also provide nutrition education ranging from weight loss to fatty liver disease.
What do you love about what you do? I enjoy the collaborative opportunity providing education to individuals. I learn just as much from the patients I serve as they learn from me. In addition, I work with a great team of fellow dietitians and CDCES educators.
What are the challenges? The ever-changing environment of healthcare poses a challenge. Policies and procedures may change from day to day or week to week. However, this challenge also nurtures skills needed to remain flexible and adaptable.
How has your MAND membership benefited you? Opportunities to learn and network with fellow dietitians in the area.
What do you think is the future of nutrition and dietetics? I foresee exponential growth within the field. Nutrition science within the field of dietetics is fairly young compared to other disciplines with a lot of exciting research from the gut microbiome to diabetes. In addition, I think there’s a lot of room for creativity within the field – I’m excited to be a part of the future field of nutrition and dietetics!
What are your favorite activities/hobbies? I enjoy nature walks with my dog and husband, reading a good book, and traveling.
What is your favorite restaurant in Minnesota? Tavern on Grand in St. Paul.
