Position Description: Clinical Registered Dietitian FT
As our Clinical Registered Dietitian, you will be responsible for working with both the clinical team and Nutrition Services department to provide nutrition assessment, recommendations, education, and diet support for the residents we serve. You will be an integral part of the on-site clinical team and food service department to ensure appropriate diets, quality food, proper clinical nutrition, nutrition education, and safety practices are provided and executed.
Dietitian responsibilities include:
• The Registered Dietitian in LTC is the medial nutrition expert responsible for independently planning, developing, and directing all nutritional care activities for residents, including those with complex medical nutritional needs.
• The RD supports the facility’s mission, coordinates nutritional care with other health care providers, facility care team, resident, resident’s families, and the community.
• Complete nutrition assessments, evaluate client health and dietary needs, document in medical record per each facility medical documentation system. Participates with care team to provide nutritional support and appropriate recommendations.
• Carry out MDS process including nutrition assessments, MDS, Care Plan completion according to facility standards.
• Work closely with practitioners, nursing staff, and other care team staff to provide quality nutrition care, recommendations, and carry out interventions.
• Obtain and interpret medical information pertinent to the resident’s nutritional care to determine risk, assess nutritional status, and develop individual specialized care plans specific to each resident’s nutritional needs.
• Assess educational needs and provide nutrition counseling and recommendations for individuals and groups, incorporating a learning approach that considers the cultural, religious, educational, and medical situation of the patient.
• Attend resident care conferences and provide updates on resident nutritional needs, concerns or interventions.
• Attend daily stand-up meetings as a part of the health care team.
• Conduct monthly sanitation audits throughout the food service department.
• Perform dining room audits during meals as needed.
• Provide nutrition presentations or talks at accounts as needed.
• Maintain productivity standards and practices, effective time management and prioritizing of tasks.
• Attend management meetings when requested.
• Work collaboratively with the Nutrition Services Director on all aspects of the department as designated.
• Interact with other departments in setting up procedures, policies, and problem solving as they relate clinical nutrition, patient food service and nutrition.
• Actively participate as part of facility QA team, providing nutrition review and revision of continuous quality improvement programs, as well as the ongoing process.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree Nutrition or Related Field
• Registered Dietitian/Certified/Licensed Dietitian License in state of employment
• Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association.
• One to three years clinical experience
• Ability to pass state specific background testing requirements.
