Tell us about yourself:
I grew up in Hastings, MN for a majority my life and attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout to pursue a career in dietetics. I graduated with my undergrad the spring of 2023, and am projected to graduate with my masters the spring of 2024. I am currently doing my masters online back at home and am in the process to become a dietary aid at a local nursing home.
What got you interested in nutrition/dietetics?
It took me years to realize that I wanted to enter the dietetic profession. In high school, I suffered from an eating disorder (ED) and went to see several different clinics to help myself overcome my ED. Even though I did not find a specific clinic to solve my ED, I was referred to a registered dietitian. I was not aware of the dietetic profession before then, but meeting with the dietitian exposed me to the possibilities of a job I did not know existed. Over the years, I had forgotten what a dietitian was until I toured a college where my tour guide was majoring in dietetics. It was in this moment where I began to seek out dietetics as my future profession. However, I still was unaware of my vision and goal in dietetics. It was not until my junior year in taking nutrition focused classes where my passion for helping individuals heal their relationship with food and viewing food as fuel became clear
