SE Region Education Meeting – March 18th
March 18, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
When: March 18th from 9-11am. Registration beginning at 8:30am.
Where: The meeting will be held in downtown Rochester, at the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center (565 1st St SW Rochester) in the subway level (SL-200). There is ample free on-street parking on Saturday mornings.
Who: All are welcome, $5 for AND members, $10 for non-members. Payments can be check or cash.
This meeting will provide 2 CEUs, morning refreshments, and some very hot topics:
- Blending for Tube Feeding: What is Trending? Margaret Baker, RDN, CNSC will be speaking about advances in blenderized tube feedings.
o Objectives:
- Identify reasons consumers look to options for blending tube feedings or real food based products
- Identify tools for success with blending tube feedings
- The Gut Microbiome: You Are What You Eat Dr. Heidi Nelson from Mayo Clinic’s Center for Individualized Medicine Microbiome Program will be speaking about individualizing diets for the gut microbiome.
o Objectives:
- Describe the current state of knowledge of how gut microbiome contributes to digestion and nutrition.
- Explain how modern sequencing tools can be used to understand the impact of microbes and metabolism on health and disease
