MAND February Member Spotlight: Tara Griffin

Tara Griffin

Provide us with a brief description of your job: For the past 8 years I have worked at the Minnesota Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center which is a part of the M Health Fairview care system. I work with adults who have CF and those who have undergone lung transplantation. I work with a great multidisciplinary team and am also a part of a large department of RDs on the Minneapolis East Bank campus of M Health Fairview.

What do you love about what you do? I love working with my patients over the long term. It’s great getting to know a group of people and being able to support them through all their health and life changes. I also get opportunities within my center to work on quality improvement initiatives which is something I really enjoy doing.

What are the challenges? With over 500 CF and post-lung transplant patients some weeks can be very busy!

How has your MAND membership benefited you? I am newer to MAND and am looking forward to all the opportunities membership provides! First and foremost getting to know the local nutrition community and develop relationships with RDs in different areas of practice.

What do you think is the future of nutrition and dietetics? As a clinical dietitian I see the role of the RD in health maintenance and disease prevention becoming essential. I also think more RDs specializing in specific service lines will move our practice forward.

What are your favorite activities/hobbies? I am the mom of two littles and my husband and I love to take them to family activities around the Twin Cities and beyond. In my kid-free time I also love reading, hiking and cooking new recipes. It’s my goal for 2023 to cook an Ina Garten cookbook cover to cover!

What is your favorite restaurant in Minnesota? Farmer and the Fishmonger
